The great thing about my company is that there are so many international websites for it.

None of the websites are at all dull when it comes to animation and presentation. The main difference to each website is the language and events in each country. Each website has different sections on games, characters, movies, tv shows, merchandise and depending on what country has a park...a section where you can plan your vacation and see that countries parks and hotels.

There is never a dull moment with the mouse.

This month Disney-Pixar released a new movie, Brave. It tells the tale of an Scottish princess, a skilled archer named Merida as she defies a royal family custom which causes chaos in her kingdom. After consulting a witch for help, her family becomes cursed and Merida is forced to undo the spell before it is too late. After opening on June 22, it made $66.7 million which makes it #1 in the box office. This is great new for Pixar as they thought that a princess movie would not appeal to the male audience. After a survey was made it was concluded that 43% of the audience were males.

Another exciting venture for the Walt Disney Company is the opening of a new addition to Disney California Adventure park...Cars Land, which is themed after the Pixar's Cars movie. Hundreds of fans camped outside the gates the night before it was scheduled to open. By mid- morning thousands gathered around its main street which is a mimic the movies nostalgic Route 66. Wall Street analysts were playing close attention to the exciting unveiling as they weighed in on the company's latest gamble.
Cars Land is only the beginning of a $1.1 billion, four year overhaul expansion to specifically boost attendance to the park. Disney intends to make the new Cars sections a motif to have guests stay longer at the park which means more money spent at the restaurants and gift shops. Its been recorded that merchandise and food sales have a higher profit margin than ticket sales...even though ticket sales have gone up at least 30% in the last year.

I also found a nice article about how The Walt Disney Studios has gained a new chairman on June 11. Alan Horn will oversea the production, distribution and marketing films from Disney, Pixar and Marvel, and all of Disney's music and theatrical projects.
Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger stated that..."Alan not only has an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience in the business, he has a true appreciation of movie making as both an art and a business."

This should be a very exciting time for Walt Disney Studios.

The story behind the mouse.

 After loosing the rights to his first creation, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, animator and visionary Walter Elias Disney had to come up with another main character for his company. In 1928, on a train ride from New York City to California, he started sketching a little mouse and he started to grow fond of it and he some how knew that other people would too. Mickey Mouse had his first success in a black and white short called Steamboat Willie, which came out to be a smash hit.
Walt Disney won a honorary Academy Award in recognition for Mickey Mouses creation and popularity.  After the success of Mickey, Walt and his brother Roy Disney decided to push the boundaries of animation further and create his first feature length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, becoming the highest grossing film of that time. This opened the door to many films that we know as children like Bambi, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella.
In 1954, Walt started with an idea that he'd like to create a place where kids and their parents could go and have fun together. He acquired 160 acres of land and a year and one day and $17 million after, Disneyland was born. Walt had so many ideas that we wanted to put into Disneyland but there wasn't enough room. In 1965, Disney World was announced with plans for theme parks, hotels and even a model city on thousands of acres of land purchased outside of Orlando Florida.  With all that on his plate Walt continued to concentrate on film and television, in 1955 the Mickey Mouse Club premiered with great success. This was a great time for the Disney Company with the success of timeless animation films, 59 Academy Award nominations and 22 Oscars awarded, a fully functional theme park and another one being built, tragedy struck Walt would never be able to see the Orlando project finish.
On December 15, 1966, Walt Disney died of complications related to lung cancer. His brother Roy Disney took over as chairman, CEO, and president of the company. One of his first acts was to rename Disney World, which opened in October 1971, as Walt Disney World in honor of his brother and his vision.
